Brooklyn Beat Festival Update

Bomb Beer is the perfect sponsor for AFP’s Brooklyn Beat Festival because Bomb Beer supports the arts, and their beer cans promote the artwork of Billy The Artist, a local East Village artist who’s work appears on each can of Bomb Beer.  But Bomb Beer is not just another company supporting the arts, they have a quality product and we were lucky to sample it at Fountain Art Fair in Miami and New York. We’re very happy to have them on board.

Bomb Beer is just one of our sponsors which is focused on supporting the arts and artists. Our promotional sponsor, eMusic has created this awesome YouTube channel featuring videos from some of our featured music acts. We’re thankful for their support.

Stay tuned. The full schedule of events and performances will be posted this week.

Featured Artist: Lucia Racekova

Originally born in Slovika, Lucia Racekova not only designs women’s apparel, but dabbles in accessories–electronic case coverings to be exact. This jack-of-all-trades lifestyle is one that is essential in these times, or as Racekova says, “in the new economy, the more you can do, the less obstacles stand in the way of your success.” Though she has a diverse assorted collection, her distinct style of bold graphic shapes envelopes a signature.

Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, Racekova will be going overseas in London, will showcasing and selling her collection next week, April 16, during Alternative Fashion Week . To view more of Racekova’s designs, click here.

Featured Artist: Mihai Dascalu

One word: story. After searching for a right word or phrase to classify artist Mihai Dascalu‘s paintings, the word story kept arising. Dascalu is a well-seasoned Romanian artist with a history dating back to the mid 1980s of exhibits and features. Even with this lengthy artistry under his belt, the theme of creating dreamlike or surreal stories can be easily evolved after viewing one of Dascalu’s artwork.

Art in the Morning: JAK BURKE

For London cartoonist, JAK BURKE he believes that “art [is] a proletariat force to effect social change.” And, from this artwork bashing the fast food industry, BURKE’s message holds true to his art perspective. This artist isn’t new to the art scene, as he contributed to DNA Magazine, Anchor Books, Gotham Magazine, AOL news, The Daily News–just to name a few.  Socially powerful and blunt, JAK BURKE’s no holds barred approach is one that is few in modern artworks.
