Kyle McNeill
| Born and raised in Brooklyn,
New York within a family of
music lovers, I have grown up
surrounded by every kind of
music. Of the many influential
musical moments in my life, my
father provided more than a
few as he played records from
his extensive and varied
collection, and my sister
provided another when she
managed to sneak my thirteen-
year-old self into the famous
Paradise Garage to see the
masterful Larry Levan play. As I
pursued other creative
interests, studying visual arts
at Fiorello H LaGuardia High
School and majoring in fashion
design at Parsons School of
Design, music was never far
away. Whether I was hitting
nightspots like Bassline, Wild
Pitch, Black Box, Shelter, or
Studio 54, or buying the latest
mix compilation by personal
heroes like Little Louie Vega
and Timmy Regisford, dance
music was my constant
companion. I was working for
the dance label Soundmen on
Wax Records when my love for
dance music fully crystallized,
and I knew that the only way I
could express my love for this
music was to play for the
masses. I hope that love is
always expressed when I play. |
